Our People
At Naranja we embrace values of equality, empowerment and opportunities for all, and put these values into action through several initiatives:
At Naranja, our family-orientated legacy means that we care in a very practical way by providing opportunities and preparing staff for career growth. We believe in upskilling our people throuh tailor-made training, transferring critical skills, like computer and office skills, or becoming machine operators and technicians. Thorough induction into the packing environment encourages retention and low staff turnover. Because of the thorough skills transfer processes, we have highly skilled seasonal workers returning for more than 15 years.
Our annual staff wellness days embrace a variety of themes, celebrating exceptional performance, promoting healthcare services, fostering well-being, and honouring diverse cultures. Staff have access to mobile clinic visits on a monthly basis, and we are an ER 24 corporate client, which means that ambulances are dispatched when needed.
Regular on-site visits by the Department of Labour eases the UIF implementation process for seasonal workers.
Developing the next generation
We believe a stronger agricultural industry benefits us all, and education and training form the cornerstone of development. A dedicated Talent Management Council manages the development of smart strategies, policies and practices that align with our values and goals. The team works alongside our general managers and HR teams, creates relationships with tertiary and agri learning institutions, oversees the internship, learnership and bursary programmes, and more.
Our team even welcomes staff from our participating growers, offering training in tractor driving, etc.
Corporate Social Investment (CSI)
Our business is deeply rooted in the rural community or Burgersfort, and we strive to have a meaningful and lasting impact through various initiatives. Our dedicated CSI Champion oversees projects that address genuine needs, including food donations and other assistance to local aftercare facilities supporting at-risk children, annual Mandela Day activities, and more. We are also one of the largest providers of secure employment, both seasonal and permanent. We do not make use of labour brokers, but rather handle all recruitment, selection and training ourselves.
